Our larger statues may contain as many as 2,000 unique parts, which is why they can take up to a month to build. We obtain our materials from many manufacturing plants in Thailand. Many items for example come from the Ford motor factory and from scrap metal dealers throughout the country. A typical large statue may have spent its previous life as perhaps a car, a boat, a dishwasher and a television and it can be fun trying to guess what certain parts might once have been.
All our models are joined by welding. The smaller models may use nuts, bolts and screws, which have been expertly crafted into limbs or other body parts.
We have recently modified some of our larger designs so that they can more easily be shipped into 1 meter-cubed containers. For these models we assemble them in parts that can be very easily re-assembled at their destination.
All models are expertly polished on completion to remove any sharp edges. They are coated with a strong lacquer to protect them from weathering and the balance of the freestanding models is vigorously checked.
We usually do not paint the statues, as they look most impressive in their natural state although exceptions have been made in the past.
On average it takes around 30 days to prepare a large model for export. This takes time because all the unique parts need to be acquired and organized. Working on just one large model may require up to 12 different workmen, each trained in different skills to complete.
Smaller models are produced in the northeast of Thailand. We have a ready supply of spare parts there and we can be extremely efficient in producing these in bulk.
